[Facial Contouring] Wide or Square Jaws

What would be the best way to improve wide jaws?


In many cases of consultation for wide or square jaws, patients bring a question like 'Do I need to get facial contouring surgery?'

If you have wide jaws, you might have developed bones, but it may not be the reason.
You would have normal size of the jaw bones but have developed masseter muscles (chewing muscles) or excessive fat on cheeks and jaw lines, or even a combination of these conditions.


If you have a lot of fat on cheeks or jaw lines, you may get a contouring injection to get rid of excessive fat. If you have developed masseter muscles, then you may get a botox injection on them to reduce the size of the muscles.
However, if the case is determined as you have a wide or big mandible (lower jaw) bone, as checking the bone conditions via CT-scans, you are recommended to undergo mandible reduction surgery.


The types and methods of surgery can be determined during face to face consultation. And, some of anatomic factors may limit the surgical process, therefore the expectations and goals of the surgery must be thoroughly discussed prior to surgery.
