<Surgical Method for zygoma reduction surgery>

Self-Diagnosis(Check List)
(1) The central portion of the face is seemed to be wider than normal range due to development of cheekbone

(3) The facial appearance gives feeling of unevenness due to protruding cheekbone
(4) The cheekbone is seemed to be protruded when it is seemed from 45° lateral view

Surgery on the body of zygoma is performed through the made incision which will be formed at mucous membrane inside the mouth and the incision will be aligned from the scalp above the ear or incision in front of the ear for the zygoma arch. The size of incision is small and the incision line will be faded in time making them almost invisible. Moreover, incision line is difficult to see because it will be hidden by hair.


Actual Surgical Procedure
(1) The surgery will be performed under general anesthesia
     To be performed under general anesthesia, body check-up and blood test should be done prior to being under general anesthesia.
(2) Exfoliate the periosteum of zygoma through approximately 2cm incision site in the mucous membrane inside the mouth
(3) Cut the body of zygoma into L-shape by using medical specialized saw
(4) Cut the bone at the zygoma arch area through made incision in the scalp above the ear (1.5cm) or incision in front of ear (1.5cm) in order to move the cheekbone in overall
(5) Move 3-dimensionally such that the body of zygoma and the zygoma arch is rotated inwardly
(6) Firmly fix the moved cheekbone
(7) Smoothly finish the layered boundary surface
(8) Suture the made-incision site
(9) It takes about 1 hour or 1 and half hour to complete the surgery
  * In contrast to jaw reduction surgery, zygoma reduction surgery is not in need of hospitalization.
