[Nose Surgery] Concept of Rhinoplasty 2 (Nasal surgery)

As i referred in last posting, there are 2 ways to exfoliate the periosteum of nasal bone.
Closed-type and Open-type incision.


Do you have any idea where the incision would be made ?


Although the nasal surgery methods differ according to the shape of the nose and surgical goal, it is divided largely into closed-type and open-type incision method, and surgery is conducted by selecting the method appropriate for the status of the nose of the patients rather than under the concept of one is better than the other.


- Open-type Incision -



Open-type incision method has the advantage of enabling various surgical procedures easily in the desired shape since surgery is carried out while accrately viewing the internal structure of the nose, and is an appropriate method for short, long and nose with broad nasal bridge, as well as re-surgery, etc.
Incision scar will not be visible after 3~6 months.




- Closed-type Incision -



It has advantage of invisible scar since the incision is made in the inner aspect of the nostril and is an appropriate method for simple ssurgical operation such as rhinoplasty.

Usually we use open-type incision method to do rhinoplasty.
( I also underwent nose surgery through open-type method ^.^  Coz i thought, open-type method has advantage of providing sufficient space for surgical procedure as wide visual field and it could lead good result. )
However some patients still worry about sacr though scar of open-type incision will not be visible.
In this case, patients can undergo the surgery through closed-type incision method.
If doctor is experienced specialist, patients could get competent result even though their surgery is perfomed as closed-type method.
