If patients have a concern with a raised outer corner of the eye, then it can give kind of fierce and unfavorable impression. Here is the solution for patients who have these concerns. This surgery procedure is known as "Hotz Operation". Surgical procedure to lower the outer corner of the eyes can create gentle and natural impression rather than fierce and sharp-looking due to small eyes with tearingly raised outer corner of the eyes. Moreover, this surgery procedure can bring about distinctively vivid shape of eyes by opening of the outer corner of the eyes refreshingly downwards.

Surgery Procedure
1) Resect inner conjuctiva along the outer corner
2) Fix the surgical site after lowering 1/3 of the outer surface for the lower-eyelid
3) After extending 4mm-6mm, suture thread will be around inner surface of lower-eyelid to hide and cover the surgical site
(*The range of the extension would be determined according to patient's accurate diagnosis and his or her own eye-ball bony structure)
4) Remove mucous membrane to prevent from being reccurence

The whole surgery procedure will take about an 30minutes to operate. Patients will be under local anesthesia with sedation during surgery. In contrast to other types of eye surgery such as double eyelid surgery or ptosis correction surgery, this procedure allows patient to go back to normal life easily.

Further Information

If patient have deepset eye-ball structure, only operating a lateral canthoplasty could be less than patient's expectation. According to patient's conditiion, the outer corner extension surgery should be accompanied with lowering surgery to maximize the surgery result as patient have been wished to have.
